Asarnha Bucha Day falls on Full moon of Eight Lunar month. The name consists with 2 words ; Asarnha and Bucha which once they are completed together as one, it means the worship of Lord Buddha in eight lunar month in order to recollect the important event that took place in this eight lunar month, the day that Lord Buddha announced the happening of Buddhism religion and it was also the first time of his sermon in which he set out to his five former associates the doctrine that had come to him following his enlightenment. |
His first pivotal sermon Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta (The Setting in Motion of the Wheel of Dharma) and at the end of this teach, one of the five participants recounted his understanding of what had been said and asked to be received as a disciple, a request the Buddha granted, thus establishing the first order of monks, Kondanna. Buddhism people also call this day “Monk day”. |
